Hi Bausse Babe! We’re happy you’re here!
On our last newsletter, we briefly touched base on this very popular topic; sunscreen. We discussed some of its benefits as well as the importance of it. But today, we want to really get to the bottom of it.
First things first, what is SPF?
SPF is Sun Protector Factor and is an indicator of the level of protection a product has against sunburn. SPF protects your skin against UVA (long wave ultraviolet A) and UVB (long wave ultraviolet B) rays, and although UVA and UVB are in the ultraviolet class, there are several important differences between them:
UVB is the rays responsible for tanning and sunburn and do not go deep into the skin.
In contrast, UVA is responsible for premature skin aging which penetrate deep into the skin.
Should we wear sunscreen every day?
The answer is YES! Without a doubt!
According to an article by John Hopkins Health, wearing sunscreen is one of the best- and easiest- way to protect your skin’s appearance and health at ANY age! Sunscreen not only prevents sunburn, but helps with skin care and premature aging as well.
So, how much sunscreen should be applied?
To protect your face, neck, arms and legs, the experts say you will probably need about one ounce of sunscreen. This is enough to completely cover your palm. Remember, by protecting your skin with sunscreen you also prevent discoloration and dark spots from sun damage, even on cloudy days or if you’re staying home!
Another common question is, should sunscreen come before or after other products?
As said by many experts, it really doesn’t matter in what order you apply your skincare products. Some people apply it onto bare skin — before makeup or moisturizer has been added, others apply it after moisturizing and before makeup. Whichever way you prefer- find what works best for your routine!
Make sure you use a sunscreen that protects skin from UVA/UVB rays as well as other damaging free radicals. Additionally, look for sunscreens that protect your skin and are loaded with healthy nutrients that can help support your skin. Our gel-like It Takes Two to Mango Sunscreen is all about that! Its Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and antioxidants help prevent premature aging and protect your skin from sun damage. It also promotes collagen production, reduces dark spots, prevents acne breakouts, and eases inflammation!
Nonetheless, keep in mind that no sunscreen is perfect. Wear wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses or other protective clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
Glowing- healthy skin is always in!
Until next time Bausse Babes,
